GENERAL DIFFICULTY - In core areas, such as work, school, or significant relationships. Problems in these
areas often stem from feelings of alienation, meaninglessness, incompetence, hopelessness, and worthlessness. Replaying old messages and living out old patterns only reinforces the "disconnect" and the negative cycle.
EXCESSIVE WORRY AND/OR IRRITABILITY - Creates major barriers for people as they attempt to navigate
their ways through various situations in life. These can range from difficulty in concentration, negative interactions
with others, and feeling trapped in repetitive behaviors, to being overly vigilant and/or feeling "crazy".
LOW SELF-ESTEEM - This causes and results in self-defeating behaviors, underachievement,
negative interactions with others, and general loss of human potential.
UNHEALTHY BOUNDARIES - Society at large does not foster healthy boundaries between individuals.
The unfortunate results often show through boundaries that are too rigid or too permeable, making it
difficult to create relationships which yield true intimacy, trust, respect for individuality, and mutually
satisfying cooperation.
VOCATIONAL QUESTIONS - When people find and cultivate what they truly love, the quality of their
lives improves. Many individuals have never been encouraged to, nor have they had the time or resources
to stop and explore what they really want to do with their lives. Giving this issue explicit attention in
therapy often clarifies and helps toward resolution of other issues.
LESBIAN/GAY/BISEXUAL/TRANSGENDER ISSUES - These take many forms, from wondering what
one's orientation is, to ascertaining where one might be on the transgender spectrum. Freeing oneself
from negative perceptions and compassionately resolving these issues often raises self-esteem. This
also often lifts some anxiety and depression.
UNRECOGNIZED OR UNUSED GIFTEDNESS - Some gifted individuals were not assessed as such
by their families, or by the schools. Because they did not get the support they needed, they have been
unable to bring their gifts to fruition. Recognizing, supporting, and developing giftedness in therapy
gives them a chance to improve the overall quality of their lives.
BLOCKED CREATIVITY - Artists, musicians and writers are not the only ones who struggle with this.
Teachers, parents, designers, helping professionals, and many others have concerns about how they
can become more fluid and creative in their approach. Working directly with this in therapy can
uncover underlying issues, unleash energy, and facilitate starting or completing work that has
previously been left undone.
SPIRITUAL/COSMIC/PHILOSOPHICAL CONCERNS AND/OR PAINFUL RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCES- Deconstructing old, unhealthy religious frameworks, coming to terms with ambiguity, claiming one's power, separating responsibility from culpability, exploring what one's place is in the universe, and developing a cosmic system with which
one can gain a feeling of well-being all serve the entire healing process.
